Paul Isaac’s case of visual agnosias

On the LinkedIn-forum ‘Autism Researchers Link’ Paul Isaac explains his case of an (almost) complete loss of visual memory. To the question what he would advise regarding the interior design of a home for someone with his affliction he answered the following:

“In a home with visual agnosias (for me as this is a personal perspective) I need everything on show (or close to everything) so I can touch and perceive it, the problem is when I tuck things in drawers, closets, cabinets etc. I “lose” where they are as I have no visual recognition of them and I can’t “touch” them for any recognition so I suppose one suggest could for someone who has visual perceptual agnosias is to have an open plan, again this is my personal perspective, I hope this helps and thank you for all your comments. :-)”
